It's with great sadness we have learned of the passing of Christy McAllister.
A club legend, stalwart and servant over so many years in so many different roles. Christy was the very embodiment of what St Patricks GAA Club is all about. Kindness of spirit, generous to a fault, unfailing in his voluntary ethos and his prevailing sense of goodness has always been and always will be a shining example to all of us and will endure long into the future.
Over the course of a lifetime Christy served in every role.
Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Coach, Fundraiser, Club Historian and in his latter years driving the grounds development to help build and maintain the facilities we now proudly call our magnificent home. We know all his colleagues and close friends across the club, but particularly on the Grounds Committe, are heartbroken.
There was nothing he wasn't prepared to do in service of the club.
His unrelenting determination to strive for the very best is the enduring spirit of Christy McAllister and the reason many of us call the place home to this very day.
A proud Dubliner, a proud St Pat's man, a proud family man and to that end we extend our deepest sympathies and support to Joan, Felim, Pat and the wider McAllister Family.
Christy had a vision. It was a simple one but a genius one.
Build a welcoming club, with state-of-the-art facilities that catered for all genders, all codes and one that even those of us coming in could feel proud to be a part of in the parish and community of Donabate and Portrane.
Our duty now, as members, coaches, and players, is to carry on that vision with the same kind of spirit and endeavour that Christy exemplified.
Christy showed us the way.
And we will be there every step of the way to support the McAllister family on his final journey as they take him to his eternal resting place.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
