Congrats to our U16 Boys who played their last Juvenile game on Saturday – a League Final no less! The result didn’t go their way; they lost out to a strong Clontarf side 1-11 to 1-09. Whereas the lads were naturally disappointed, those of us who are older & wiser and who have watched these lads since their first juvenile game in December 2007, are very aware of these lads’ performance & potential. This is the third ‘Top Two’ finish in the last 4 years for these quiet achievers. We’re looking forward to following them at Minor Level.

Well done too to our U15 Girls Squad who finished Runner Up at the Kilmacud Invitational Blitz. Thank you to our hosts; the girls had a ball, played strongly in their 4 games and most importantly thoroughly enjoyed the post-blitz brownies!

We had a fantastic mixed men & women’s football match on Sunday to raise funds for Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Thank you to Elaine Walsh & her team who organised it, to those who played & supported, to Rory O’Neill the Resilient Ref and to Adrian Henchy & Joanne Henry the Blazing Bainisteoirs. Hard Luck to our Minor Lads who lost to St Mary’s Saggart on Sunday putting an end to their Championship campaign. Well behind at half time, they battled to come back to a 2 point deficit but in the end they just couldn’t beat by the clock and finished on the wrong end of the result. Well done to the lads and their mentors on their young-long performances. #ProudToBePats

It was a good week for us on the game-front. Our Minor Men Footballers had a good win beating Colmcilles of Meath in a tough challenge game. Level at half time thanks to a cracker of a goal by Aaron Page, second half goals from Evun Connolly & Niall Shields sealed a 3-08 to 1-11 win.

The action then moved to Ballymastone on Saturday where our U14 Boys finished their Division 3 League with a 1-09 to 2-04 win against Na Fianna in the League Final giving them a record 15 wins from 15 games.

From there we decamped to Kingswood on Sunday where a great display by our Junior Footballers saw them beat St Kevins Killians in the Promotion Semi Final. Initially in the lead, by half time they were 2 points behind. Then down by 4 points in the second half, Pats dug deep to reclaim the game; some super Free Taking from Marius McGarrell buoyed up the lads and they took the game eventual winners 0-09 to 0-08.

Unfortunately, our Ladies League Decider game didn’t follow the script. Despite some beautiful passages of play, they went down to a strong Crumlin side to finish Runners Up in Division 7.

They say Fortune favours the Brave but unfortunately this isn’t always the case. Our lads couldn’t have been braver in the Championship Quarter Final on Tuesday night. Superb play from both sides couldn’t separate the teams and once again we headed to extra time. Ahead all the way in the last quarter, we were unfortunately beaten by a very last minute goal from St Judes. We wish them well as they head to the Semi Finals.

Congrats to our #Gaelic4MothersAndOthers squad who participated in the National Blitz at Naomh Mearnog on Saturday. Well played too to our U13 Girls who finished Runner Up in the U13 Championship Final.

By now, those of a nervous nature have had a chance to restore normal blood pressure levels after Wednesday’s Championship Quarter Final. Pats started strongly and took an early lead however Jude retaliated and the game finished honours even at Full Time. It headed to extra time but the sides still couldn’t be separated. At 22h25, the Ref called time and the replay has been set for Tuesday 19h30 on 11 October once again in Balgriffin. We’re hoping to get a big crowd there to support the lads!

Both our Minor squads had tough encounters on Sunday. Congrats to the lads who beat Fingal Ravens 2-12 to 1-11. Hard Luck and well played to the lads who took on St Catherines. Our Senior team had an unfortunate week with a 6 point loss to Clontarf on Wednesday and a 5 point one to Scoil Ui Connaill on Saturday. Wednesday’s performance was strong defensively and one of our strongest performances this year, with the two Clontarf goals on the break the difference. We just didn’t convert enough of our scoring opportunities – and scores win matches! Some superb individual performances including James Foran in goals with the highlight a penalty save onto of two other class saves and John Lynders playing through the pain barrier with an injury that would put anybody else out for a month, that could only inspire any Pats player there young or old!

Our U16 girls, building on last week, had another fantastic game coming from 9 points behind to draw with Naomh Barróg. Our U11 Girls are proving a force to be reckoned with putting in a great display against St Maurs.

Our Gaelic4Mothers&Others continues on Fridays, the first few sessions have been great fun and we welcome any new comers who’d like to give it try.

We had a superb weekend in the girls section! Our U9 Girls took on the might of Clontarf in 4 games taking home the honours with 2 wins & a draw. Our U11 Girls travelled to Peregrines for a close encounter that ended honours even with 1 win apiece. The U13 Girls had a fantastic game against Beann Eadair coming away victorious 2-01 to 0-03. The U15s picked up some easy points when Trinity Gaels conceded the game.

It’s good news too from the Boys squads with our U9 undefeated by St Vincent’s 3 teams. The U12 Boys had their first league game last weekend where the A team went down to Syls and the B Team drawing with St Judes. Most Travelled Award goes to our U14 Boys who travelled to Kerry coming back with 2 wins over Killarney Legion.

CLUB NOTES TO APPEAR IN THE HERALD & FINGAL INDO ON TUESDAY 12 APRIL 2016

The numbers drawn for the lotto on Friday 08 April were 07, 08, 22 & 27. The five envelope winners were Tommy Sherlock, Richard & Theresa Curley, Rose Duignan, V Neville and Stephanie Voit. Our jackpot has now reached €7,700. Thanks for your support!

Congrats to our Senior Footballers on a great performance to beat St Vincent’s at Ballymastone. Conversely, our Junior Hurlers were on the wrong end of their match against Vincents going down 1-09 to 0-08.

For the first time in Club history, we fielded 2 Minor Men’s teams. Team 1 won the local Pats – Fins derby match 4-06 to 1-12 but Team 2 were beaten narrowly by 2 points by a strong Whitehall side.

Our U14 & U10 lads continue their strong runs of form remaining unbeaten. Our U14s beat Thomas Davis 11-11 to 3-07 while our U10s took both the honours in their games against O’Dwyers.

Our U13 Girls are picking up pace with another back-to-back win. This time against neighbours Fingallians. The teams are quite evenly matched and the games are always well contested. Our U15s leaked a heartbreakingly late goal to go down to Round Towers Clondalkin thus ending their unbeaten 2016 stretch. Never ones to let disappointment sink them, many of the girls lined up again for the U16s match.

At all 3 juvenile girls games this weekend, a minute’s silence was held to remember Wexford’s Ciara Ryan who died tragically on Thursday. We’d like to commend the girls from Pats and their counterparts in Fingallians, Round Towers Clondalkin and Leixlip on the mature way in which they remembered their contemporary. All of us here in Pats would like to offer our sympathy to our colleagues in Kilanerin GAA Club, Gorey at this terribly sad time.

A reminder of our upcoming ‘May Midterm’ Camp taking place 03 – 05 May. You can register with Katrina any weekday morning in the office or at one of the upcoming Registration Session. The cost of the camp is: first child €45, second child €35, 3rd & subsequent children €25 each.

Congrats to our Girls Féile Squad who played so well at the weekend and only missed out on a semi final placing on goal difference. Kudos to the 2002 & 2003 girls who represented our Club so well – being complimented on their sportsmanship, behaviour and team work by many of the refs and officials. Their Mentors Fiona & Mary are rightly proud of their performance #ProudToBePats

Our Senior Footballers went down at home to Ballinteer St Johns in a miserably wet encounter in Ballymastone. Our Junior Footballers lost out to a strong Na Fianna squad despite a strong comeback in the second half. Plenty of potential with this squad as they turn their attention to the next game.

Conversely our U10 Boys had great success against their Na Fianna counterparts with superb skills on display from both clubs. Elsewhere our Minor Hurlers put in a great performance against our namesakes in Palmerstown but were unlucky on the day to come away second best. Elsewhere a number of matches had to be called off due to the inclement weather; we look forward to getting the sunny spring weather we so truly deserve!

Congrats to our Footballers who won Parnell’s 1916 Memorial Trophy on Sunday. Our Minors footballers were unlucky to go down to Ballyboden in the League. Our Hurlers went down to a strong Ballinteer side despite an extremely courageous display of defending.

Our U13 Girls recorded a super win 3-05 to 2-03 against Naomh Mearnog. These girls are enjoying their first season on the full pitch and all the hard work at training is paying off. Well done to the team; their Mentor Mary is extremely proud of their season’s performances.

Elsewhere our U15 Girls continue their run of form with a 8-01 to 1-03 win away to Na Fianna. The U16 girls put in a valiant performance out in St Annes but their handsome 6-04 score just wasn’t enough to win it on the day. Our U15 Girls seem to have already played their game of the year against a strong Ballyboughal side. They came back from a 13 point deficit to end the game honours even 8-06 to 8-06. Kudos to the girls for such a great performance.

The numbers drawn for the lotto on Friday 19 February were 02, 06, 07 & 16. The five envelope winners were Vera Kennedy, Charlie Farrell, Scott Walton, Erin McGahan and Bernie & Sinead. Our jackpot has now reached €7,000. Thanks for your support!

Well done to our U15 and U16 Girls who continue their strong pre-season campaigns with very effective displays on Saturday. Keep up the hard work ladies!

Our Junior Footballers were unlucky to come away on the wrong side of the result in the Murphy Cup. Elsewhere a number of games including our Minors and U15 Boys had to be called off due to waterlogged pitches. Here’s hoping for some blazing sunshine for the weeks ahead!

A reminder of some dates for the Juvenile Calendar: 29 March is the Elite Camp for U13-U16 Boys & Girls. 02 May is the ‘Post-Easter’ May Midterm Camp, 11 July is the Cúl Camp and 18 July is the Juvenile Football & Hurling Camp. More details to follow.

Finally, 2016 Membership is overdue. 17 March is the Membership deadline; this will be strictly enforced. There are significant insurance issues at play and we will enforce a strict ‘No Pay No Play’ policy after this date. This is to cover the Club as well as the health and well-being of the individual player. Membership can be paid online via http://www.stpatsgaa.com/membership.asp. It can also be paid by cheque by dropping a membership form with the cheque payment into Katrina in the office.

Our U10 Boys began their league season with gutsy performances in 3 tough games against St Sylvesters. Keep up the hard work Boys!

Well done to our U15 Girls who continue their pre season campaign with a win against Craobh Chiarain in a really enjoyable encounter with great skills from both sides.

Our Junior Footballers had an excellent 4-11 to 0-11 win against Ballyboughal despite having to field a depleted team of the bare 15 proving the old adage – “quality rather than quantity”. Well played Lads – great to see all the hard work paying off, #ProudToBePats

Well done to our U15 girls who began their season with a super win in Whitehall 3-11 to 4-02. The girls in DCC begin their school campaign after midterm and we wish them well in their endeavours. Good Luck wishes also go to the 2nd & 3rd year boys squad who have reached the School Finals. No date yet for final until mocks are finished but hopes are high that this hardworking team will be rewarded with success.

Our Senior Footballers had a one point win over neighbours St Maurs while our hurlers also picked up a win. Good results in from our U12 Boys where both squads picked up wins in their grading games. Keep up the good work Lads!

The numbers drawn for the lotto on Friday 29 January were 14, 15, 25 & 30. The five envelope winners were Shane Kiernan, Martin Maughton, Bobby Rogers, Grace Mc Mahon and Dave Carroll. Next week’s jackpot is €6,700. Thanks for your support!

Our thanks to Damien Burke for the trojan word he has done leading our National Club Draw campaign. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to raise much needed funds. We can sell up to 2,000 tickets at €10 each. All proceeds from our ticket sales go directly to our club, so there is potential for €20,000. We’ve been selling them in Donabate Town Centre on Saturdays. Thanks to everyone for the great support last weekend. If you’d like to buy a ticket – or indeed another ticket – please contact your mentor as soon as possible.

Can Mentors and Club Supporters please arrange to have the ticket stubs back to Damien by the weekend?

We’re appealing for the help of a Graphic Designer to help the Club with a project. If you – or some you know – could volunteer to help us please email us via this link, we’d appreciate it very much!

Congrats to our U16 Boys who began their season with a great win 4-05 to 0-02 away to Clanna Gael on Saturday. Our U15 lads followed them into action on Sunday but despite some beautiful passages of play, they went down to Fingallians in what was a great spectator match for the neutrals!

As you’ll no doubt be aware, 2016 Membership is now due. 17 March is the Membership deadline; this will be strictly enforced. There are significant insurance issues at play and we simply must enforce a strict ‘No Pay No Play’ policy to cover the Club as well as the health and well-being of the individual player. We have another Registration Session this Saturday 06 February at the Community Centre. Committee members will be on site to accept membership forms and cash/cheque payments from 11h00-13h00.

The MyClubFinance site is now live, payments can be made electronically. Please visit http://www.stpatsgaa.com/membership.asp for more information.

Congrats to Sean Lee and Robert Rogers from our U16 Boys Squad who both qualified as Go Games Refs last month.

As more of our teams return to action over the next few weeks, we wish everyone a happy and healthy 2016 season. An especial welcome to all the new members who have joined us this year – and to our newest squad the U8 boys who have left the Academy section and join the Juvenile teams lining out for the Glas & Dubh. #ProudToBePats
